| Issuing Emergency Access Credentials
Symlabs Identity Provider, Medical Edition, uses federated identity and IdP proxy to fully authenticate doctors, medical staff, and patients. Building on this, it can configure a special medical access authentication context to indicate that emergency patient access is authorized, constrained to circumstances and scope defined in advance. Acting as a patient's IdP, Symlabs Identity Provider, Medical Edition, receives the access request, then consults the doctor's IdP for authentication and verification that the doctor is properly licensed. If so, it issues special credentials for the doctor to access only those parts of the patient's identity service that contain needed medical information.
Federated Identity Access to Health Care Records
Symlabs Identity Provider, Medical Edition is the component of Symlabs Federated Identity Suite that enables hospitals and clinics to create a Single Sign-On (SSO) environment for access to medical applications. By using Single Sign-On (SSO), doctors and staff can easily access patient records from all of their federated identity enabled internal data repositories. SSO also lets them access patient data repositories or other key information databases at any trusted outside sources, such as insurance companies or consultation affiliates. As a federated identity provider (IdP), Symlabs Identity Provider, Medical Edition enforces tight controls over the disclosure of private information by authorizing only appropriate staff to access records based on strong authentication of their identities.
Patients can also use SSO to monitor their own records, or gain entry to various personal medical assistance applications that may be available. In addition, it allows them to authorize a wide variety of medical professionals, by name or by organization plus medical role, to access their records, all based on authentication and authorization performed by Symlabs Identity Provider, Medical Edition. |
