Symlabs LDAP Proxy is a simple yet powerful software component that works with any LDAP server and the majority of relational databases to deliver significant improvements in the reliability, security and scalability of your existing directory infrastructure. Based on numerous benchmarks, it offers the best performance of any product currently available, and it is also highly scalable.

Symlabs LDAP Proxy performs periodic health checks to monitor the state of all directory servers at all times. When one or more servers fail (or become unresponsive), it quickly reroutes traffic using either simple fail-over mechanisms or complex multi-site algorithms with weighted priorities, as needed for the application. Then as servers recover, it restores traffic using configurable fail-back rules to ensure an orderly and safe recovery.

Performance is also enhanced for your directory infrastructure as a result of the LDAP Proxy's ability to load balance across a pool of servers whenever a high throughput of read operations is required. It distributes LDAP queries to multiple servers according to your choice of algorithms, from an even distribution to weighted distributions based on pre-defined characteristics. It can also analyze queries then route them to a server best suited for that particular request.
