Challenge

Consider that you have an environment where you have decided to construct a Virtual Tree using some Virtual Directory software. In this case, an application may query the Root DSE to obtain the namingContexts in order to provide options to a user as to which namingContexts to use.

Most Virtual Directory software will return the namingContexts attributes provided by the default backend directory within the configuration. However, these may not necessarily match the namingContexts in your Virtual Tree. Being able to modify the Naming Context on the fly, can correct this and resolve this configuration problem.
