Challenge
Numara FootPrints is a web based service management solution for managing service desks and extending business process automation. It offers multiple services to different business units inside an organization and allows companies to automate many processes thanks to Numara Footprints' ability to integration with a wide variety of business systems.

However, Numara Footprints also shows some limitations, such as authentication across multiple domains or user repositories, which cannot be automatically configured through the FootPrints interface.

Additionally, the management of address books where user and client data is split across multiple repositories (LDAP Servers and/or relational databases), can prove to be a problem where you are unable to select enough data sources.

Solution

The benefit of using Symlabs Virtual Directory Server as an addition for Numara FootPrints can be easily appreciated. It extends FootPrints usage beyond the common scenarios for which it was designed, breaking the limitations that would pose a problem for some deployments.

Symlabs Virtual Directory Server can be used to extend authentication to multiple domains and/or user repositories, through the abstraction layer created with our product. This results in an easy integration of new domains with the Numara Footprints software, allowing the application to authenticate new users within a matter of minutes and with minimal configuration change. By combining user repositories through the single point of access provided by Virtual Directory Server, it is possible to avoid data replication or synchronization to achieve integration.

Virtual Directory Server can also be used to virtually aggregate all address book data into a single unified view that is easy to integrate with Numara Footprints. Using the default plugins and the capabilities provided by our automatic ServerGroups, it is possible to combine data from a variety of sources, including LDAP Servers, Active Directory servers and relational databases. Once again, this easy-to-configure functionality will help you to avoid the pain of synchronizing data and handling complex configurations across your backend data layer in order to properly integrate with Numara Footprints.
